We wiil have a tour of TRIAD House
We will be available to answer any of your questions regarding the
planning of our new building, Mary's Place. In response to the
misinformation that has been circulated in the community, we have
answered below some frequently asked questions.

THE TRUTH ABOUT LIFETIES & THE NEWLY PROPOSED MARY'S PLACE

Who will be residing at Mary's Place?

Young adults, ages 18 to 22, employed full time or part time, and
attending college or vocational school/training. They have "aged out"
of the child welfare system, but still need housing and support at their
young age, just as your children do when they finish high school. They
are not financially secure and are too inexperienced to live on their
own. While they can remain in the studio apartments after graduation,
the average stay at permanent housing is two years.

How many residents will live at Mary's Place?

15 total. There will be 15 studio apartments, with one resident in each
apartment. It is highly unlikely that all residents will be on site at
the same time. Youth will be active and involved in school and work.

Will this new building bring crime into the neighborhood?

No. Contrary to the flyers being distributed in the community, LifeTies
residents have never been arrested for home break-ins, violent crimes or
other "unimaginable crimes" in the neighborhood. Despite the fact that
both the Police and Fire Departments have publicly stated that their
records disprove statements on the inflammatory flyers, mean spirited
neighbors continue to distribute untruthful information.

Will the new building overdevelop the property?

No. There has always been open space for recreation on the property.
However, in response to planning board questions, the building size has
been scaled back. Triad House will remain a stand alone building. The
administrative building will be demolished and offices will be housed in
the new building.

Why does LifeTies have to build Mary's Place here?

LifeTies is addressing the lack of housing and services for young people
without family support. LifeTies has owned this property in Ewing since
1984. We looked at numerous properties but could not find appropriate
housing close to public transportation and services. The architect has
designed a beautiful, energy efficient building. LifeTies has responded
to neighbors' reservations by adding security to alleviate concern about
outside visitors and the overall size of the building has been reduced.
LifeTies is committed to providing quality care to our residents and
building lasting relationships with the community.
